According to Statista, Shopee is among the most popular e-commerce sites in the Philippines, with more than 50 million web visits each month. Shopee makes it simple to obtain immediate access to a large audience of potential customers and provides a hassle-free experience when it comes to setting up your store. But before you offer your first product, you will need to complete a few key steps that are mentioned here.

The prerequisites for opening a Shopee online business vary by seller type. If you wish to sell on Shopee in the Philippines, you must first prove that your business is registered with the necessary government organizations including Mayor’s permit, DTI/SEC business registration certificate, and BIR Certificate of Registration (Form 2303).  Business registration with the DTI or SEC is not required for No Label sellers.

To start selling on the Shopee you need to follow some steps that are mentioned below:

  • First Download the Shopee mobile app from the Google Play Store or App Store on your smartphone. Alternatively, you can also register at Shopee.com.
  • Fill out your shop profile on the seller.shopee.ph website or use Shopee mobile app to access the Shopee Seller Center. Fill out the required data about your shop by clicking “Shop Settings.” Shopee online sellers are categorized as Shopee Mall Sellers, Preferred Sellers, No Label/Marketplace Sellers, and Overseas Sellers, depending on your brand ownership and location.
  • Don’t forget to double-check your phone number. You won’t be able to get your products seen by potential buyers unless you have a confirmed mobile number.
  • Tap “Account Settings” and then “My Addresses” on the “Me” tab. Toggle “Set as a Pickup Address” after entering the required information. Then press “Submit”.
  • You are now ready to add and upload products to your shop. But first, double-check that your products are not on the Shopee’s list of restricted items that are stolen goods, medicines, used cosmetics etc.
  • To add new products to your shop, go to “My Shop” and “Add New Products.”
  • After that, you will need to upload your product photos. A maximum of nine photos can be uploaded per product listing.
  • Go to each product and enable the selected delivery options. Choose “My Products,” then “Edit” on the product for which you want to enable the shipping option.
  • Select “Shipping Fee,” then enter the packing and weight dimensions. Before saving, select your preferred courier. Then select “Update” to save all your changes.
  • Now, you can start selling on Shopee after you have finished your product listings. Then prepare to pack the orders after checking the Shopee Order ID under “My Sales” and then “To Ship.”

Once your buyer has tapped the “Order Received” button or after the Shopee Guarantee period has passed, you will be paid for the order. Make sure your bank account is set up so that you may withdraw money from your Seller Balance.

If you want to be a Shopee online seller, there are several fees you should be aware of. Some of them include the Seller Transaction Fee, which is a handling fee to cover the cost of payment transactions (2 percent plus VAT on the buyer’s final amount) except for orders that have been cancelled by sellers or buyers, orders that have been refunded or returned, and orders that have been auto cancelled by the system.  Another is the Cashback and Free Shipping Program Service Fee, which is a 5% service charge for the Free Shipping Program and a 3% service charge for the Cashback Program up to PHP 100 per item.
